Legos Are Getting Angrier

ARTICLE SUMMARY:

Remember the days when your Legos played house and went on delightful adventures? Well, looking at the faces of those plastic people today, they look far more likely to blow up bad (we hope) guys than change the baby. A recent study out of New Zealand found that the number of happy faces on Legos have been decreasing since the 1990s, while the number of angry faces have been increasing. The Lego manufacturer has been moving to more conflict based themes---Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates--resulting in the rise of grouchy faces. There is a concern that children could be negatively affected by toys, as the angry faces may encourage them towards more violent play to match the toys appearance. No studies have confirmed that, however.
