The Atlantic, June 2013
SUMMARY: A lovely article for those of you who are interested in film or the Don Draper type. Talks at length about how our idea of charm in American men has changed, how we lost that charmin' feeling, charms relationship to masculinity, and how we define charm now, all with emphasis in the portrayal of charm on the silver screen. The author argues charm is missing from the silver screen because it's missing in our lives--men drop the ball in social situations and conversational exchanges--but also because our society frames charm as womanly, further showing our incomprehension over what it means to be charming. Fun read, especially for movie buffs.
